Starting in 2020, Ohio Women in Government will be rolling out a Regional Event Program, bringing women together under the OWIG brand outside of Columbus for the very first time. This program will expand our usual networking and educational programming to multiple cities across the state. For members who live and work in places like Cleveland and Toledo, these events will enable us to finally meet you where you are. Our goal is to make our organization more accessible to members and potential members all across Ohio, not just in Columbus.
OWIG is excited to use its Regional Event Program to embrace the statewide vision that has always been implied as part of our name. To support this effort, OWIG will be adding several new “Regional Liaison” positions to its Executive Committee. Regional liaisons will be OWIG members whose primary residence is outside of the Columbus metropolitan area, and who will be responsible for managing all of the OWIG regional events in their city. In order for a city to be considered the site of a future OWIG regional event, a member from that city must apply for and be selected as a Regional Liaison. Nothing precludes two women from applying to be co-regional liaisons in any one city, but OWIG would prefer to have just one point of contact per regional location.
These liaisons will be key points of contact for OWIG’s Board with respect to regional events, and will play a critical role in the rollout of our program. Like other board members, liaisons will serve for two-year terms, but may reapply and be re-selected to serve for additional terms after their two years are up.
If you are a current member of Ohio Women in Government who lives and works in a city outside of the Columbus metropolitan region and are passionate about OWIG’s mission and the future of our organization, please email julia.wynn@gmail.com for more information about how to apply to become a regional liaison!
